I am your local MadMan
Hi there!
Let's see. I'm 28, male, Chicago. I'm a mechanic by trade, but I often like to take on difficult side projects that I'll probably never finish! I'd like to say that I'm pretty good with electronics. I can follow a schematic, I can solder, and I know a bit about how stuff works. From time to time I'll fix something electronic-y. Usually it's car-related circuit boards and the like, but I've tinkered with other things, like my 1992 Sony Trinitron tv. Which I fixed a million times. I also like antiques and vintage electronics. I started my modest radio collection when I was but a wee lad. I recently picked up an RCA Victor 7T122 tv set (1951). It's had a very rough life (lately), and I wanted to make it new again. So I came here. Sadly, in the LONG time that it took the mods to validate my account, I've found out that the picture tube is dead. Apparently it's quite a rare one. 17GP4, one of those metal/glass tubes. But I'll keep looking. So, just wanted to say hi! |

Another noob here, also working on my first old set. Not as rare as yours though. Good luck finding a picture tube! I have been having a lot of fun working on mine and it is getting close to done.
