Freebee JVC 32" 2006 model set.
One of my neighbors at my workshop, dropped off a like-new condition, JVC set. It even included the original remote, but too early of a model for a DTV tuner. It works fine with an Insignia DTV converter.
My big problem is, I can't get purity in the upper right corner. The CRT is a USA Philips EIA 312, Sylvania. The yoke is an impressive one, totally potted with some kind of a convergence assembly? Someone like Zeno, who worked on this newer stuff, please advise. Too F'in heavy and too nice to scrap! |

A very nice set, we sold JVC for about 8 yrs after all but
dropping Zenith. The only bad thing was the power supply, way to complex & lots of SMD's. First be sure its not near something magnetic. Next check for PC cons in DGS, DGS relay if it has & be sure the thermistor isnt broken. Next give a real heavy manual DGSing. If no joy get some small correction magnets off a junker or even refrigerator door magnets. In TV's they are usually small discs taped down or V shapes like on Thompsons. Put up a pure single blank raster ( green usually used on in lines). Place on bell near "blotch" move around AND rotate. Unless the shadow mask has loosened that should do it. BTW look in the set & see if one fell off ! You often find them or yoke wedges laying on the chassis. 73 Zeno GBA ! LFOD ! |

I took the back off this heavy beast and there is absolutely no dust! It really looks like a complicated mudder. After running it, I discovered impurity in both upper corners. There is some real different components on the CRT neck, totally different than even the 27" and smaller models. The set was brought to me, on a pallet, face down using a fork-lift. I have to get back to it. |

Hope the shadow mask didnt break loose in transit.
Extra stuff on CRT is probably SVM or Scan Velocity Modulation. First used by Sylvania IIRC. On high end sets. Actualy slows or speeds the beam to make a sharp transition from dark to lite etc. Has a PCB & a little yoke. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

I quoted the year improperly! It's a 2002 model. I always wanted to be able to post pictures of lot of the interesting rubbish, I possess. I have to get to work on it.
