Having trouble with a Sony VCR

Hi Guys,
The trouble I'm having is that the eject button and the (fake) surround button are crossing over some how, when I press the eject button it turns on the (fake) surround which only distorts the sound and doesn't work. I don't have a clue where the issue it, any advice is welcome.
The model is an SLV-EZ2000

If the two buttons are close together, I would suspect mechanical interference. You would have to remove the panel and try the EJECT switch again, without the plastic buttons getting in the way. If it's not that, you have a really weird problem that may not be worth trying to fix.
