Crosley Grandfather Clock and Radio

I've got the opportunity to purchace a Crosley Grandfathers clock with built in radio, i believe it's from the early 30's. It's missing one knob and does not work. It's in good physical shape, the usual for furniture this old. They are asking $400. This just feels like a little much for this item. It's cool but is it $400 cool? Any thoughts on what this might be worth?

Thanks

Chris

Seems to be a TAD high...Like about double, I'd think. And even that might be generous.

That's part of the problem... people think they can make a quick buck with old stuff; the mindset is of the typical AOL user

they think "ZOMGZ VINTAGE/CLASSIC == LOTS MONIEZ FOR MEEZ NOW!" which is rather a shame... as it means some things go to far worse homes than they belong; someone (with more money than sense) buys it and thinks it will work, plugs it in, lets out the magic smoke, and bins it.

By way of comparison, I paid about $115 for my early 30s Westinghouse WR8 clock + radio. The radio & clock were working, but the cabinet was in rough shape.
