Problems from Sega Genesis input into 1980's TV

I rencently got a 1985 Toshiba Television(model CF2514) and currently have my Sega Genesis hooked up to it. Overall it works great, but there is one issue that concerns me: When ever the game uses a flash effect that covers at least 50% of the screen, it quickly scrolls vertically for the duration of that animation, then goes back to normal after the animation has finished. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you.

By "scrolls vertically" do you mean the set looses vertical sync, or the picture looses centering. Does it do this with other sets?

If your using an RF modulator you may want to try a different external one of a different brand....If you over drive or under drive the video modulator with video (many designs don't give the ability to adjust that out) the set may not extract the proper sync levels from the signal to retain vertical lock under all conditions.

Sets that predate full solid-state signal chains tend to be especially susceptible to this issue.

Yeah. 1985 tv and a system that didn't come out till 89. TV doesn't handle the Rf modulation. Try using a playstation 1 on an older zenith. What fun.
