Is this TV anything interesting ?
I hope my link works , I've watched this TV drop over the past year or so from a beginning price of $600 down to $100 and still it remains unsold . I've gotta admit , I've seen way fewer of this type of TV than the regular rectangular box console style , I'd have figured being different would have made it attractive to someone ?
PS , not my TV , I have no association whatsoever with it or it's seller , I just am curious if it's a keeper or maybe the 1970s equivalent to a 1990s BPC set ? Last edited by init4fun; 04-06-2018 at 08:37 PM. Reason: Bad link |

edit: oh ok.
idk? Definitely interesting. Probably fairly 'high tech' for its time. Or at least it looked the part. |

Magnavox, I forget what they're called but most sellers think they're worth a fortune, while most collectors find them hideous, hence the lack of sale.

That upright combo design is interesting to me. Electrically it is the same as the normal low wide combos of its day...SS stereo Tube/Hybrid TV.

Friend's parents bought one in the early 70's. The TV died an early death and the stereo kept going. It's performance on all counts was meh.

Yes, you're right. I would have thought those were doors leading to record storage, but I see now that they are not hinged to open. Must have lousy stereo separation with them side by side.

The Magnavox Skyscraper. Came in several flavors. Bottom line
is its just a TV & stereo, nothing special. Not fun to work on. A bitch to move. RCA made one also. A friend had one & when we went to move it it broke up on the stairs. Damn near killed me. He was in tears but I was relieved that I wouldnt be fixin it again. In Boston its gonna cost at least a C note to junk it so reach out & offer to take it for free if it dont sell. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

Were these usually particleboard and plastic garbage, or were they built out of decent materials?

Magnavox had the idea from the very beginning with their Imperial Windsor set from 1948.
This one would be worth having, if you had the room. |

Does the top separate from the bottom? Otherwise a bear to transport. How tall is the complete unit?
