Where to post my find?

Hi, this is my first post to the radio forums, though I have been hanging out in the audio forums for a couple of months now. Anyway I'm not sure if this radio belongs in antique or transistor. Vintage yes, antique no, transistor yes, but no batteries. It's a Hallicrafters S-240, a special find for me as I've never even seen one in Canada before. I paid the princely sum of 5 bucks for it, it's dirty, the fine tuning shaft is bent and the antenna is broken but otherwise great shape, works great. Real happy about this, I have always wanted a Hallicrafters - the 1940's are my favorites for looks.

Please guide me and I will move this post to where it belongs.

Regards - Dave

Shortwave is FUN!

Stylish design, nice find! I'm working on a Hallicrafters WR-600 right now,
well, it's sitting on the shelf waiting for a tube. Couple of months ago I got a S/S Realistic DX-160 Communications Receiver that's turning out to be a great little radio. Had a bent antenna trim shaft which whacked the blades in the variable condenser. Trying to straighten out those fins is really difficult Only rubs a tiny bit in this one little place Having a BFO Pitch control makes for some fine tuning! Also found a Hammarlund One Eighty about 6 months ago, it's sitting up in my barn, I don't even dare to get into that one!

Interesting, I also have a DX-160 that I picked up about 10 or so years ago and a DX-200 that I found a couple of months ago, plus others. When I was into radios exclusively, I would find stereos at the thrift, now that I'm looking for stereos, I find radios - go figure, but it's all good. Analogue radios are so much more fun to sit down with and tune around the dial.
