The link only works for logged in members of the Philco Phorum. It takes you to a thread that states the author has a few copies left and is will to sell them to Philco Phorum members for $13.50.

Just registered awaiting approval.. meanwhile, considering adding a 3 prong cord i have lying around to the radio since the original is unsalvageable. The question i have is would the Ground leg make a good GROUND point for the antenna ground? or would it be too "noisy"?

Or should i just use a standard 2 pin cord??

No experience with them, but I had my speaker done by Allen Speaker Reconing in Houston. Allen is an old-time repairman who's been doing reconing for decades, and the job he did on my speaker was top notch. He was also a real hoot to talk to on the phone as well.

Cool, i was curious because of location (closer to me). Probably not a good time to send anything to Houston at the moment. Not in a hurry, just gathering info..

How do i contact Allen?

Good point about Houston. I don't know if that area was affected - the best thing to do would be to call them at (713) 862-2747.

For what it's worth, I mailed them the speaker when I got it reconed. It was easier and cheaper than fighting Houston traffic. The speaker was returned to me packaged better than when I'd sent it to them.

Wish I had info on the speaker place close to you, but since Allen's did a great job on mine, I thought I'd give them a plug.

I put grounded cords on transformer radios I restore, especially the pre-built-in-antenna models before 1940. A ground is necessary to optimize ground wave reception with a long wire antenna. Two Y2 rated caps from each side of AC line to ground helps also.

Most of the noise I get is not via AC mains but radiated from noisy crap like cheap LED screw-in lamps and crummy high-THD electronic ballasts. The AM loop antennas are especially prone.

Nothing wrong with satisfied word of mouth..

Dropped the Place close to me an e-mail and havent heard squat so far, so it may go to Houston after all..
