Heathkit GR-269 18" Color TV Kit
Guys I just got this TV kit. It was part of an ASI home electronics course. But Heathkit provided all the electronics.
Anyway here is what I have of the kit. 3 Boxes. The CRT is NIB is a 18VAZ 22P and tested outstanding and tracking was spot on even. Here's what was inside one of the boxes as I opened the box. Here's the other box as I opened it. After looking further into this kit I discovered that all the circuit boards, parts, and their manuals are missing. Only the Convergence board and its parts are there. It appears that this kit had another box. I'm also missing the metal cabinet pieces and perhaps the power transformer. Everything that is in this kit is still in very good shape. Of course the some of the metal parts need to have that cad plating gunk cleaned off. Everything else is in pristine condition. The manuals have the "X-Ray" view the PC boards and a component listings. Some IC's, caps, resistors, inductors, coils, transformers, etc. I know I could recreate those boards but getting the special parts probably would be a real pain. Maybe some of the boards are used on other TV's? We'll see. Anyway I thought I share this find with you guys. |

That was probably all he got when the VA program was cut off. I bought a GR2000 kit from a vet but all he had was the first three boxes. I bought the remaining two from Heathkit. Bought the CRT locally. That was back in the 80's when Heathkit was still in business.

The seller has located most of the boards/parts that I needed. Still missing are the Chroma and Video Output boards/parts.

Heathkit was bad about shorting kit orders. I built dozens of them...and nearly all had parts missing. Sometimes large important parts!

I'm not saying that Heathkit shorted the kits the parts. This kit was acquired from a closed repair shop. The place was a mess. I'm trying to get back there and do some more scrounging to see if I can find the missing parts. We'll see.

The chroma transformers are probably generic and obtainable...the video output IC is the only part on those boards that could be hard to get.

Looks to me that set shares some of the same modules as the GRD 900 I have here.

Correct. Looks to me they might be the same.

Probably right on both counts.

used mostly RCA semi's with IIRC 5 digit numbers that never crossed in ECG, SK, GE etc. The design is mostly RCA including the SCR horz out stage. Most of it can probably be fixed with a manual from an early XL100 chassis using RCA parts. Best thing is probably do a COMPLETE inventory then buy a junker or if you have everything else a module set. 73 Zeno LFOD ! |

I still have the modules from a hopeless GR-370 (after I messed with it anyway), including an extra video output board. I'll have to check those to see if they match up.
Edit: My video output modules have round 9-pin chroma demodulator ICs marked 442-10 which crosses to the NTE705A. Other than that it seems the boards are electrically the same. Last edited by Jon A.; 11-02-2018 at 05:16 PM. |

Here are some pictures of the 2 boards along with their parts list.
First up the Chroma board. Next up the Video Output board. Thanks for everybody's help. |

Yup, got 'em. Any two are yours for the postage if you can't find the originals.
