I ended up buying the thing, and it got here today.
It ended up working perfectly and other than a cigarette burn on the back corner of the case, it looks pretty nice too. I had to hook it up with my travel adapter as it has an EU plug, but runs fine on 110v. It is also switchable between NTSC & PAL modes, and it does seem to show more scan lines when fed a PAL signal but not really any sharper picture. I like it.
