Video outs had problems. Some were 3 transistors in one case.
Shorted tube should give retrace lines then usually over
current shut down & a blink code.
Dont think its good green gun only. If so the AKB circuit
would cause blinking or blacked out video.
As a rule its not a hard problem to troubleshoot.
If you get it also resolder the vert out IC & check it good for cold joints.

Its your gamble. Its a beast to move. You also have to consider
what it may cost you to get rid of the carcass if its a junker !

Yeah I know. I've had a couple of these before. Discarding is free here twice a year. April and October.

Sure..... illegal dumping usually is. no this is twice a year as I mentioned already. A service provided by the city to encourage residents to clear their excess clutter.

There are plenty of working ones around for next to nothing, why spend time on a broken 200 pound set?

For fun & learning. Almost any SS set is the same in this area.
Fix a few & you have mastered some common problems.
I do agree its a heavy beast to deal with & by no means a
milestone or classic set but they do run very nice.......

You want to spend $25 -$75 for one? I don't really have to have it. I wouldnt mind one with original matching stand. I've worked on these before but never one with this problem. Figured it MIGHT be worth the effort but it isn't really. These Wega sets still bring a few bucks here.

I could have FILLED my van--with 32 and above Sony sets a few weeks back...during the Wyoming route.

WHY did I not pick up any ?--2 main reasons...

I did NOT wish to strain my already weak back on these beasts...I save it for stuff like that 23" GE tube set that I found in that area... which has a nice history behind it...

And second--what would I DO with them...if I DID pick them up? they do NOT sell in this area..and I am NOT interested in collecting any...
