T-Con Board?

My wife was watching our (roughly 2014 model year) Samsung UN55F8000 today; the picture went out ... sound is OK. Picture is "black," but has kind of a slight consistent flash to it - black, more black, black, more black, if that makes sense. I could not see an image when I used a flashlight in front.

I read that a T-Con board BN96-27225A might be the culprit. I like the TV ... worth fixing? Is the T-Con board the most common problem for this issue?

Thanks!
