Channel masters
Here are my Channel masters. I picked up the 6515a around Thanksgiving. I had to recap it. It works and sounds great. Missing the logo. Those Jacks still give me grief once in awhile. I will have to try some deoxit or progold. I just have CRC contact cleaner. I think I paid about 3 bucks for this radio.
I was at the local goodwill store and I actually found somthing. Usually they are expensive and do not have anything good. Well they had this 6514 with the leather case, with the little pouch which held the long wire antenna with suction cup. It looks like they hat a telescoping antenna for this one as well but it is gone. As you can see this has the Marine band on it. I still need to clean this up and sew up the case in one spot. I paid 1.99. I couldn't believe it. You never know with thrift stores one moment they put a huge price on something worthless and the next moment they give away something for pennies. I had to clean the corrosion out of the battery holder. I used naval jelly and a jack knife. Worked great. This one did not need anything. I think I need to clean the jacks on this one. Sometimes it acts up.
How do they work. the 6515a has better bass. But the 6514 receives better. Both are pretty good tho. I was listening to some hams a couple states away on the marine band last night. It was awesome. What a great performer.
