Magnavox 1R1702 table radio
This is a cool 1968 all-USA built piece with a blue-green electro-luminescent dial like the instrument cluster on a 1967 Charger
As can be guessed, the mini-firecracker electrolytic was open. The result blew the AF driver transistor open (PNP-Ge, NTE-102A). I just got a replacement and cannot wait to plug it in and hear and see this in the dark Oddly, 6 other electrolytics passed ESR tests IMG_7061.jpg IMG_7062.jpg

Its working now that the driver transistor is biasing the output transistor into operation. As suspected, the tuner is neither sensitive nor selective but the audio is good.
As the earlier thread I did on the tubed Magnavox radio mentions, the FM sounds great but only on random strong stations. Not a Zenith, but an easy repair like one
