1982 25" RCA Colortrak 2000 FGR2020W Kijiji find.
Well this isn't a salvaged one for a change lol. For quite sometime I have been looking to find a RCA tv to match my 1982 RCA VGT-650 Selectavision VCR. Like i was mentioning in my last post on the 86 Colortrak, I was looking for something before GE took over in 86. I happened to be browsing the local Kijiji classifeids on X-mas eve and was surprised to find this, since I have a very hard time finding old tv's where I live, although they do pop up on Kijiji from time to time. I also scored another surprisingly i believe '82 VJP900T VCR with Remote with the tv. I wasn't expecting much with the VCR due to the age, and sure enough it won't load tapes, I figure it's a worn out belt though. As far as the TV goes, they are heavy beasts! The picture quality is quite good and the stereo sound is mighty impressive The tv was manufactured in June of 1982 at the Prescott Ontario Plant which closed down in the mid 90's. It does have the audio out but no video. One thing i've been noticing is the picture seems a little dark, I tried adjusting the color and brightness but maybe someone can help thanks.

In screen shot looks bright enuf but lacks contrast.
Could be TV or VCR causing it, try a different VCR. The pix also looks a bit orange so it probably needs a complete set-up. These were good sets with some common & usually manageable problems. Its an early example of the "cube" design. They sold well due to the small footprint. 73 Zeno |

Wow! What a nice tv! And it haves a lot of buttons (I like things with many butons). I want one too!

Those were good sets, with comb filters. There's a coil that may need adjusting, if you see sound bar effects getting into color saturated areas of the picture.

I have one of those that has a loss of luma and I think the problem is due to a bad connection; but, I have not dug into it. When I first got it, I was beating and banging on the PC board and a perfect picture popped in for a couple of seconds. It's probably either an issue with the service switch or a bad connection on the delay line.

I have a very similar set in my living room that I watch daily. It was purchased about 12 years ago from a church rectory that was closing. The only work I've had to do was resolder some connections in the tuner module when the set started changing channels randomly or wouldn't let you enter channels.
Mine was built in 1984 in Indiana. I was lucky to find the matching remote in a resale store. I like that it has real oak veneer on the cabinet, it matches the woodwork in my house. Most tabletop sets by this time were plastic, though I remember seeing wood cabinets on some Trinitron models. |

Wow that set is in fantastic condition maxm I couldn't figure out why I had a dim picture on mine, turns out it was the ambient light on the right side of the tv. When i turn off the light or i'm in a dark room the picture goes darker. I hope to get the OEM Remote soon, I'm currently using a universal.

Those sets use an LDR to adjust the brightness according to room lighting.

I wouldn't mind having one of those, or better yet, the console version.
OEM remotes for those are plentiful on the bay. |

IMHO, The picture looks pretty good, considering that flash was obviously used. Nice looking set!
