RCA 3-RD-30 Find?

Hi All

My sister bought this old girl at an auction. I have no idea what she paid for it ? She wanted me to find out what it's worth. She said it works fine. I on the other hand am to chicken to plug it in

I haven't had much time or luck finding out much about it. Any help would be much apreciated. She's thinking she might sell it. Times have been tough for her family since she lost her job. And she'd like to know it's value.

Thanks in advance...
Army

If your unsure about it then it would be a good idea to
hook it up to a variac then bring the voltage up slowly with the
unit turned on.

Uhh, no, DON'T plug it in & turn it on. You could, at the very least, ruin a nice old set, & at the worst, it COULD catch fire. Unlikely, but Yrs Trly had it happen to him once. The power cords on them old sets -I've never seen a one I'd trust my life to-which is basically what you'd be doing, as well. -Sandy G.

I'm with Sandy on that one...most of them had cotton cloth wrapped around the wire that would rot away.

OK guys

I'm chicken shit for the right reasons

But is this thing worth anything?????

It isn't too bad a shape for it's age.

I would'nt want to tell my sister that it isn't worth anything. And have her pitch it. It's pretty cool for the most part.

No value ?????

Cheers

Most wooden radios in the "tombstone" cabinet are $100 and up. I don't think that's the right model number, though - I can't find anything on it.

Post your question at www.antiqueradios.com, they can probably help.

I didn't see this number in my book either, similar numbers were all for plastic tabletop sets. Wooden RCA sets priced at $100 and better in this old copy of mine, usually ebay goes higher but not always every time.

It looks like a model T6-1 from about 1935: http://radioattic.com/archives/image...T6-1_Adams.jpg
