Floor Model Magnavox
I picked up a very cool red papered 15 inch field coil with an alnico tweeter bracketed in the center. All I know is that it came out of a large mono Magnavox console. The only thing in the cabinet was the speaker which I got for $5 but without any tuner or amp numbers I can not pull a Sams on it to find out the voltage needed for the field coil magnet. Any info on where to look or ask would be great.

All I have is the speaker. How many floor stanging Magnavoxes were made that had 15" coax red paper cone field coil drivers?

All of the "antique" radios I worked on some 50 or so years back used the field coil of the speakers as a smoothing choke, so there was no separate DC supply for the coil.
My brother had started a radio repair business and when he went into the RCAF during WW II, Ikind of kept things running. My early intro to electronics. Rob |
