Thank you, all. It's sad to know my childhood tv is lost to poor delivery. I filed a claim with FedEx. I hope I can at least recoup some of the expense.

That set has had it. OP, if you're looking for a cool 12" B&W check this out.

There's a good chance the fbt isn't your only issue.

I would at least give try because you have not much to loose:
Disassamble the flyback Remove the outer metal shell of the transformer press the broken parts of the core together if the gap disappears you can try to superglue both parts together afterwards ferrite can be superglued very well usually |

Yes, but only use the thin viscosity glue.
The thin stuff wets and soaks into the iron grain and won't add any gap. IT seems that most places only seem to sell the gel type. Cyano is best when used with a tiny well fit gap, but many hobbyists don't use it to the full advantage or use it in the proper applications, which is why it tends to get a bad rap. John |

Thank you for your explaination which I fully agree.
Of course I cannot say anything about the availibility of thin super glue in the US. Here in Austria you can buy gel and thin super glue in almost every superette |

The crack cannot be repaired. The core must be in one solid piece to operate correctly. You would need to replace the flyback and it would need to be the identical one. Your not likely to find one.

OP -- what is the model number of the TV (found on the label on the back of the cabinet)? I can look to see if there's a cross-reference part number for the flyback. Even if there is, it probably isn't likely to find a new flyback, but there's no harm in trying.
I know you don't want to blame the seller for the shipping damage, but it won't hurt them if you make a claim with the shipping agent. I don't know if too much time has passed for that, though. You ought to investigate that ASAP, before doing anything else with this set. As others have said, this set probably has other problems related to its shipping trauma. It's admirable to try to fix this set, but do keep your expectations realistic. It will probably be best to find another TV to use now for whatever you wanted it for, and put this RCA aside and have it as a project, if you're committed to repairing it. |

If you're in the Chicago area you would probably be best served finding a local set on Craigslist or some such and picking it up your self. I think of the 70-ish vintage sets I own only 2 have I trusted to a shipping service...
If you were in Milwaukee I probably could have set you up with some kind of usable set given some parameters of what you want.

Fedex settled with me for the loss. But I still am stuck with a broken set.
Can anyone help me find a flyback or replacement set? All the numbers and images are in the original post.

Has anyone found a replacement set for me? If they are very common, I am still optimistic I can find the exact model again.

Just checking again. Has anyone found a replacement flyback or replacement TV set for me? I’d really like to have a working model of this set again.

So I have no guarantee about whether any of this would work, but have you checked with some of the TV suppliers about whether they have a replacement flyback available?
If you want to hunt down a new one, you'd want to get a service manual for the set to see what your part number is. From there, there's a few supplies (Moyers comes to mind) that could potentially have one available that you could use. It's a long shot, but I don't see anyone actually looking for that part.

I have a friend that has a KCS 202 tuner-less parts chassis that you can have for shipping charges if you want it, or just the flyback. The outer cover on the tire is cracking off, but the windings appears undamaged. The chassis does produce high voltage when powered up. He
also has a complete and working set, but no way would he try and ship it. PM me for his E-Mail address. |
