Strange fault.
HI ALL!
I picked up a Sanyo HV-DX2 DVD/VCR combo at the weekend. The VCR deck is OK, but not so for the DVD/CD drive. It seems to play DVD's fine, then you insert a CD or MP3 CD and the drive goes bonkers. It spins clockwise for the couple of times, then starts spinning anti-clockwise and at high speed! The laser seems to be working....so what is wrong here? Over to you guys! All suggestions welcomed. |

Store bought or burned CD?
Can you try both? |

CDs and DVDs use different color lasers, so it's possible the CD laser is bad or out of adjustment while the DVD one is fine.

I had no idea those drives could even spin in both directions.
Some DVD or CD players have used standard computer-type drives and connections. If this one does, you can certainly try a different drive without too much trouble.

It's not an actual computer drive, but watching it try to play a CD is really funny!
