Why do I still repair flat panels...
So a gentleman and his son dropped off a 70" sharp earlier. I haven't worked on a flat screen in almost 6 months because the prices really dropped down on them. We live in a disposable societee where people would rather throw something away and buy a new one than have it repaired.
Long story short although I do like still working on these I've noticed it's become more of a PITA in the last few years due to LED backlight failures. I probably would not have taken this one if I didn't see that back lights come on with a blank screen.. But it's a Sharp... and I know I'll be stripping the side gate drivers off and repairing the tcon just to get it working. Nothing but panels and led failures with these newer TV's. Arghhhhh At least they were nice people and I told him 30 bucks because this is not a repair, this is a fix that may last 6 months to a year
