and there is nothing in the HV setup talking about how to check the shunt tube current?

look in the misc adjustments under horizontal sweep circuit adjustments, look for referece to the cathode current of the HV regulator tube.

yes there is but it talks about shorting certain terminals tuning in a picture then removing said shorted terminal and place a vtvm thru a hi vlotage probe to anode connector. them point H to ground, short across horiz ocill cathode coil pin 8 to ground plus more, boy this is out of my area, confusing there must be an easier way. but nothing about a 1k resistor.

thats to set the osc, there should be more about the cathode current of the horz out and the regulator tube, read it all...

after above it says to then adjust current not to exceed 210 but to set 200ma, with the meter in series with cathode lead on hot, on the horiz linearity coil the rest is focus, height, vert lin. no resistor.

so somewhere in the misc adj it just says set hv to 23.5-26.5 with no other instructions, or are you just reading that off the schematic.

you could remove the jumper and put a 1k in there then measure the voltage drop accross the resistor or use a micro amp meter. You need about a 0-2 ma scale
