Dahlberg / Setchell-Carlson motel coin op. radio
This was a recent ebay find. The Dahlberg model is 49-6 and the Setchell-Carlson number is 416. Evidently, this set was built by Setchell-Carlson and modified for coin operation for the Dahlberg company. The radio plays decent on it's original caps and still has the coin mechanism, coin box, and key. One day soon, I'll change the caps for good measure. I'm sure some folks actually remember seeing these in motels and hospitals. I'm sure coin operated radios were mostly all gone by the '60's, in favor of TV.

Was the chassis that clean when you got it? Pretty nice that the key was kept with it.

Yep, it was that clean. I've done nothing to this set but turn it on. I will recap and align it one of these days. Being as it was this clean on the inside, this radio could have very well come straight from the hotel or hospital that it was used in.
