CRT Search

I am in Search of a A68ADT31X03 and or Compatible CRT. This would go into a Zenith Model# B27A74R. Would the A68AGD01X work in this particular set?

Thank You.

Zeniths this vintage came with both Zenith & Thompson
CRT's. The Thompsons had bonded yokes. Check the
EIA numbers on the CRT tags for starters. If the same
probably will sub. If not probably not.
IIRC Zenith EIA will be 343 or 1101
Thompson/RCA I think still used 274 EIA code.
Bonded yoke sets used connectors on the yoke itself,
non bonded plugged in right on the chassis.

Thanks for the information. The CRT that I have in my Set right now shows a little too much Red in the Screen. However, it still has an overall good picture.

It was that way when I bought it a year ago at an older couples' Sale. They were still using this particular Set for their TV at the time as I knew the couple that previously had it. She had told me that her husband wanted to get a Flat Screen, but she didn't want one. She said she liked this 27 Inch Zenith Console TV very well. It has a very like new cabinet yet and the sound is awesome!!! I doubt if they used it a tremendous amount.

Would anyone be able to tell me if the following 2 Picture Tubes would interchange for an A68ADT31X03?

1. A68ADT19X01

2. A68AEG20X02

There was out in internet land a site that told what
the numbers meant but I only found it once.
Almost any modern CRT will have almost the same
electrical specs. When you can decode the part # you
can find what the differences are. They may be........

bonded or non bonded yoke.
pin out
max HV
face glass color / transparency
physical shape / mounting
implosion protection
screen size
phosphor type
& more.............

For the first step ID the jug. Post clear pics of the CRT tag &
the yoke area. Since most CRT's from the same mfr are the
same this will narrow down your search but also widen it to
other brands that may have used it.

This particular doesn't have the Adjustments on the back of the Socket Board or on the back. This set you have to have a Code to enter on the TV Remote to get to the Service Menu. I don't happen to have that available to me. If anyone has help on that that would be great.

Thanks.

If you go to this web site you can download all 112 pages of the service manual for your Zenith t.v. Now the manual covers a whole series of sets that use the same chassis. The site is www.manualslib.com/ . All the best, Tom

Did you find out if the A68AEG20X02 was compatible? There's one in my 1989 LXI 564.42955950 and it's pretty bright on default settings, maybe it wasn't used much but it sure collected a ton of dust on the inside.
