Sony PVM-5041Q won't power up.

Recently picked up a 5 inch PVM 5041Q from ebay. Discovered that it won't power up.

What happens is: I push the power button, the green light comes on for a second and then shuts off, as if the psu overcurrent is tripping. All fuses test good in the set. If I supply 12V to the 12V connector on the back, and try to turn it on, same result but this time I get a high pitched squeal from the flyback area.

Short of replacing capacitors, I am stumped as what to do.

Probably the most common problem I stumbled across with those Sony monitors were cracked PC boards, mostly around the flyback transformer.

Update: turns out it was a bad power supply. Good thing I bought a second unit for cheap, although it arrived with the plastic bezel smashed from shipping., as I was able to transplant parts.
