That was a great episode! It was so cool seeing the DS9 crew in authentic TOS uniforms. And the Forrest Gump technique where they merged scenes looked pretty genuine.

I think the original was by far the best, captain Kirk was just plain cool, and the plots of the episodes were 9 times out of 10 more interesting, focusing more on the strange and weird outer space type stuff.

That said, I did like The Next Generation and the later years of Voyager as well. Never got into Deep Space Nine or Enterprise.

I thought TNG was the best show on television, period. Still do.

My vote is for the classic Star Trek and also voyager. I liked the original stories, but come on guys, the Captain goes down and risks his life on each episode? I still think Shatner can't act, but loved the story lines. I never liked any of the other spinoffs.

I like TNG the best, but loved the character Seven of Nine in Voyager.

TOS fan here, even if I always was very fond of Data..And John DeLancie. I've often wondered how much of Q is acting & how much is his own personality coming thru. A bald, not very robust French captain w/a Brit accent took some getting used to.

I was really into TOS at one time, and it is still my favorite. I've always liked the show's use of non-streamlined designs, the costumes, how well they get along with low-performance technology (well, except for the failure-prone transporter) and one has to admit Kirk is one tough customer who can throw it down with the best of them. So will Scotty after he's knocked back a few and someone rags on the Enterprise.

On the subject of Star Trek, does anyone else get an over-the-air DTV channel for the H&I (Heroes and Icons) network?

It gives you all the Star Trek you can handle (and more), with one episode from each series a day, 6 days a week.

We got the H&I network in central Ohio earlier this year on a low-power station, and then this month it got picked up as a sub-channel on WBNS.

Well, since we are necro-threading...

The one closest to my heart is TOS. Saw each episode so many times growing up that I can identify any episode in the first few seconds. So many great episodes and pushing of social issues.

As a series though and taking into account everything TNG is one heck of a show and maybe "better" than TOS. But it is standing on the shoulders of a giant which gave it a big leg up. TOS broke the ground for it.

Never got into any of the other series. Wish I still had the album of Shatner reading bad poetry really badly though, never shoulda tossed that..

Since this thread was last up (10 years ago!) I've watched my way through all the Star Trek series, several times. TOS is still my favorite, but there's episodes I like in all of them. And I just recently picked up some TNG on VHS.
