Capacitor

I ran across this in my tv chassis at first i thought it was a resistor. My Sams shows it to be a 4.7 cap. the picture picks up a lot of imperfections. The bands are white black black. Does this fall into the bumble bee type cap with the plastic shell paper foil inside?

No it's a 4.7 pF ceramic capacitor, Rarely fail, but not impossible.

It's ceramic - not mica.

I'm puzzled... how do we get 4.7 pf out of the color code? I think that I see a 7 (purple) but the other bands appear to be blue (or black) with the exception of the white band on the end.

Oh, I was just assuming the Sams value in the first post was correct. I suspect the colors are not showing up correctly in the photo.

the bands are correct white, black, black, I had been looking at a mica previously that is why i put wrong type in sentence. I had seen the other ceramics that looked like a small spool generally white. There is another ceramic in there real small same bands and same shape. And according to Sams its was a 4.7
