Late '60s Panasonic radios
I've been finding a lot of these lately, and almost without exception, they always seem to work nearly flawlessly. The styling is decent (lots of plastic "wood" and aluminum), and they're usually very inexpensive. They make good everyday-listening radios! I've got two now and just passed up another the other day for lack of space. Anyone else?

Remember, Panasonic, slightly ahead of our time.

I have a Panasonic RF 1700 AM/FM eight band that is an excellent player. Panasonic is probably one of few manufacturers whose vintage products are mostly operayive today, 30 - 40 years later

I have a few of these table radios...great sounding, and really nice looking!
Do a search for the Wilco album "AM" you'll see a big ol Panasonic gracing the cover

I have one as well. Same type my parents had while I was growing up. Love the wood case.

I've got a Panasonic Model RF 619 AM-FM transistor radio from the late 60s that my dad bought for me on his way back from Vietnam. I brought it back to life last year with Deoxit.

I had an RF-5000 multiband for a long time and liked it a lot. It really sucked in the signals. Nice bass for that size of cabinet. Traded "up" to a Sony CRF-160 and wished later I hadn't.
Now my big old portable is a Magnavox D-2935- beat to hell but i haven't heard a baseball game sound better on anything else. It helps to put it near a grill and a few cold beers. |
