I used to be able to move freely from discussions of old TVs to giving tips
about picking classical recordings, now I have to log into two different forums
to do it. Great progress, but I guess there were some good reasons for doing
it...

And it looks like all posts after August 14 are in some kind of limbo!

Wow... now it's like we have our own little town... apart from the big city. Funny to think... when I first found AudioKarma years ago, there were only a few hundred members at most. I'm sure this new VideoKarma will grow as well with time.

Yes, and attachments uploaded after August 14th are gone also.
I had to log in again to reply to this message even though it supposedly remembered me.

It's nice to have the seperate videokarma. Thanks!

John

I would rather have the old situation with all those 3 weeks of posts
intact than the current one. I hope everyone realizes that humans
do spend time writing these contributions.

So, the two of you joined up together again, hem?

Gotta be a success.

Best of luck to this new endeavour of yours.

I'm reserving judgment until I've had a chance to get used to the new site for a while. I didn't see this coming (probably my fault since I've only been frequenting the vintage TV forums on AK lately) and I don't know the reasons for the change.

It would have been nice to archive/read-only the old TV posts on AK for a little while at least. They appear to be all gone and the link on there to this place doesn't work either.

Can anyone offer any insight as to the rationale for the move?

Just bugs that need to be fixed. He mentioned that with the first post. I'm confident that they will fix all the glitches. I used to manage a site and trust me it's a pita.

1. Threads after 8/15/2009 don't seem to have transferred over. Should I assume that they will eventually reappear, or start a new thread to replace one that was ongoing as of, say, yesterday (9/8/2009)?

2. The link from the old Audiokarma forums page is broken. I got here by manually entering the URL http://www.videokarma.org/forums/ .

Some of the info you wanted was touched on in this post http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/sho...=1#post3018537

The lack of ability to reach the TV member due to their not wanting to venture in to the Audio or News forums is one of many reasons the site was split up.

Believe me your going to like this site much more since you will not have to abide by the long list of AK rules here such as the ability to sell your hobbyist items in the forums.

As for the missing posts there is little we can do to bring them over here. Not as many threads are gone as you think. Feel free to repost them over here if you like.

The problems is not that the missing posts/threads are unavailable here, it
is that they are also gone from Audiokarma, so in practice they are not
available at all. I don't mind that much, but as a person who posted
roughly equal amounts of material in audio and 'video', I am a bit
disappointed and the advantages to me are near zero. Regards.

I think This change is a good idea. Videokarma is a cool name for it too.

Every TV and radio post ever made between 2002 and aug 13th of 2009 is right here on this site. The amount of posts that are missing is probably less then 50.

I am sorry you feel the way you do but this is the new home for these forums.

Grumpy
