Fawlty Towers -equipment used?

Title says it all - a friend sent me some copies of the show, and they have a nice picture (samples if you guys want). I’m guessing the cameras were the famous four tube EMIs?

Were the EMIs known for comet tails in the red channel? One scene had them pretty badly.
