I wonder whose guts they use in the $2.26M set at the top of the list? Funny if it was a cheap POS off the shelf at WalMart that they dressed up....

The frame is made of gold, and diamonds, so yeah, the guts are probably run of the mill. It's not like Rolls Royce is making LCD screens.

I think those "Prestige" sets look like cheap Crosley crap.

Only an ABSOLUTE idiot would pay MORE than a VERY nice house--for a tv set.

I figure not many of us pay much for our daily watchers...we just get them broken and fix them...then use them. That is my case at least...

I have never owned a new TV....All of my sets have been "frankensets". More fun watching them when you built them from the scrap pile

I really could care less about new Televisions nowadays.
Most of my time is spent with my Desktop PC, online, viewing my 21" NEC FE2111sb CRT Monitor.

Reminds me of some of the ridiculous Curtis Mathes stuff form the 60's TV wall units "The Most expensive TV and Darn Worth It" crap chassis and particle board cabinets.

These ludicrous sets are aimed at people in places like Dubai UAE where you can get a solid gold X-Box 1 for $15K.

I would much rather have the Sony KD-34XBR960 that I got for free and a house

That most expensive one is overcharging quite a bit for the 62 pounds of gold,
whose resale value is probably very close to just one million bucks.

I'm a pot calling the kettle black here, since I've paid as much as $6000 per
ounce for gold but these are natural crystals and don't weigh anywhere NEAR a single pound.

I was thinking about C-M myself.
The 60's models weren't too bad. The TV chassis' were RCA clones and the stereos were tube based designs.
The 70's and 80's designs, were the ones you are referring to.

You "no new TV sets" folks are making me feel like a rich man, since I have bought five new sets that cost over $2,000.00 each. Well, two of those were only bought after the previous one in each case was taken back by the manufacturer for a full refund after two years of ownership. And, I sold the old one each time that I bought a new (and better) one.

I'm sure that if I were able to drop 2 grand on a TV most of that would be for shipping, and no, that's not because things are delivered via ice road truck as one American I dealt with actually thought was necessary.

Yeah...I like the one surrounded my millions of dollars worth of jewels. It's still probably made in China using crappy counterfeit aluminum electrolytics.
