I'm listening to what I consider to be ELO's forgotten masterpiece; their album Time.
It's a SciFi themed album thats bathed in synth and Interesting musical effects. The well crafted lyrics weaving a continuous story across the musically varied songs. I've never heard a single track of it played on the radio, but back in college when I discovered it on an unlabeled 8-track that sunck into my collection my mind was blown and it instantly took and held the favorite album position in my collection longer than any other so far. I know it is better as a continuous album than disjointed singles ( which doesn't lend it's self well to singles based radio) but I'm still surprised it doesn't seem to get any play... much of it feels like it could be released today and be just as fresh as it was back in 82.

Yes!
Time by ELO is my favorite album of theirs. My US Jet LP sounds really superb, with killer transient response and a hi-end to die for.
Second runner up album of theirs for me, would be either Discovery or Balance of Power. Kind of different than what most ELO fans would say. I am huge on synth/new wave/minimal alternative which is all I collect besides classical nowadays. Happy listening |
