Operational HP 970a Voltmeter
Other than rebuilding the battery pack, and fabricating new battery connector springs to replace corroded/broken parts, very little was required to restore operation of this unique 1973 "pen style" DMM. Attached is a pix of the operating meter, charger, case, manual, long probe and light shield.
More about the 970A here: www.hpl.hp.com/hpjournal/pdfs/IssuePDFs/1973-11.pdf Next task will be an attempt to fabricate the unique "watchband" selector switch, which wraps around the body of the meter. It has a "pointer" which indicates the function (Kohms, Vac and Vdc) and a tab that engages the actual switch (on the left side of the meter). jr |
