What's ironic is at times I'll go over to the ARF TV forums to poke around, and at least twice every time I do I'll see the exact same people posting the exact same threads with the exact same titles and content as was posted here....and the exact same people chiming in with the exact same responses.

Yes, as far as TV subjects, you are correct. But this often evokes new responses from different people that are not on both groups. Can't blame a guy needing assistance from posting in both (and maybe more) places.

No doubt that VK is better for the TV guys, but ARF shows a whole lot more traffic in the radio categories, which is just what it was created for. I use both, multiple times daily. I can help and get help from people on both forums, and if I ignore either for more than a few days I'll go back and regret not being a contributor in many of the threads that interest me.

If Jeffhs wants to share his knowledge of Zenith in the way of helping others, there are multiple live Zenith threads daily over on ARF where he may be able to feel more useful. Not as an alternative to VK, but as another outlet for his needs.

If you have your heart set on going to the ETF, can't drive, and no one will take you, then perhaps you can find a bus route that will get you most of the way, and fill in the gaps with other routes, taxis/uber, etc...That is what I'd look into if I was in your shoes.

Getting back to the main topic, Greyhound has three buses a day from Cleveland to Columbus. I'm flying in to Columbus Tue May 2, out Tue May 9, so if you take the bus on Wed May 3 or later and return on Mon May 8, I could pick you up and drop you at Greyhound; and depending on where you stay near ETF, I or someone else should be able to drive you back and forth. (FYI, I'm staying at Best Western Hilliard Inn and Suites, 3831 Park Mill Run Drive, Hilliard; 614-529-8118.)

Will you do it?

I'm not so sure anymore. The bus fare from here to Columbus would probably be so high I couldn't afford it (I live on disability). Taxicabs are out of the question as well, since the fare from here to Columbus would almost certainly be astronomical (as I have been told, Columbus, Ohio is some 500 miles downstate from where I live). Besides, I don't know that I would want to be that far from home for any length of time. I have no idea where Columbus is, anyway, having lived in northern Ohio my whole life. However, if you are talking about Columbus, Georgia, that is definitely out of the question for me, as I don't want to be on a bus for six or seven hours to travel 650-700 miles.

I wish I had learned to drive when most folks do, at 16 years of age, but I had far too much going on in my life at that time (I was in school then, of course, and had mostly bad and downright ridiculous stuff going on outside of school I don't care to go into here). Now I am 60, have been disabled most of my adult life, and am afraid I am stuck here in this small town for whatever is left of my life, my only contact with the world outside my own four walls being the evening news on television and the poor excuse for ham radio I am forced to use here because I cannot put up any kind of decent antenna. That hobby meant a lot to me in my home town, and I hated like anything to give it up when I moved here.

Sheeeesh! Life is so darned unfair it isn't funny.

I hope you are kidding... Columbus is the capital of Ohio, and it's dead center of the state. Pretty much every sign on every highway in Ohio has the distance to Columbus on it. It's only 177 miles from you, not 500 (FYI, Ohio is only about 300-350 miles long no matter how you cross it):

Greyhound seems like a great option. I looked at their website, it's a 2.5 hour ride and it's only $20-$30 round trip to go down one day and return the next.

If you're serious about wanting to come, I'll donate $50 towards your trip. Anybody else in? Let's pass the hat

But only if you're serious about going.....

Greyhound would most likely be your best bet.
However.. you probably qualify for a "short-bus".
Maybe that would be cheaper alternative, or a more comfortable ride?

The only way to ensure a problem never gets solved is to whine about all the potential solutions...

Jeff, you say you are being ignored, but both Tim and Ben want to help you and it seems like you're ignoring them here.....what the hell is up with that? I thought you were talking about how you hate being ignored only to ignore others who want to help you?"

I do not see what's so funny; moreover, I did not "blow you off" or whatever. After all, people do have lives outside the Internet, and simply do not (in most cases are not in a position to) drop everything to answer emails, PMs or anything else; also, people do forget things (I have yet to meet anyone with total recall who never, ever, forgets anything). Late last year (the entire month of November), I was in the hospital and had absolutely no access to computers; I could not answer messages or emails if I had wanted to. There are other reasons I couldn't have answered your messages: my computer could have been out of order, I could have been very busy, or I may not have been home, to name just three.

I regret ever having started this thread; if I had known I'd get responses like this, I wouldn't have. Videokarma is not the same forum it was when I joined 15 years ago. Most of the people who were posting here when I started no longer do so for any number of reasons. I remember there were a few people here years ago who actually looked to me for answers to questions about Zenith radios, and did not get upset if I did not answer them very soon after posting their questions, concerns, etc. I am only sorry this is not the case anymore.
