Anyone ever repaired a Heathkit it-28 capacitor tester?

I'm needing some help with this thing. I replaced all the caps (even tested them with another checker), and this unit is doing some odd things. After calibration it seems to test resistors just fine, but it refuses to test any caps. When testing caps the "eye" just always stays open no matter what.

Is there a common issue with these that cause this? I really would prefer to not take every part out of this thing.

I would recheck that you installed the new caps properly, and check the 6BN8 tube.

I had a bunch of odd problems with the IT-11 that I have (same exact unit, different front panel color scheme), but due to poor construction work by the original builder, I just "rekitted" mine and rebuilt it from the ground up with all new caps and resistors. Works like new...
