Zenith 14M23 B&W Console
Decided to make a dedicated thread for this TV, since it's just so nice. It does work, but one of the lytics is getting hot. I cleaned all the dust out with a paintbrush and a Rainbow vacuum, but the tuner and all controls are horribly dirty. I'll go to Radioshack today and get some cleaner and lubricant. Can't afford any more Deoxit.

I've found a product as good as deoxit, but cheaper:
https://www.google.com/search?q=GC+e...utf-8&oe=utf-8 Note: I buy mine locally (for about the same price on the net) from Chester electronics, and cannot endorse or talk down any online retailer of the product.

I paid around $21 for my can at Radioshack about a year and a half ago. That chassis had a real nice blanket of dust all over it before I vacuumed it. I always try to clean my sets asbestos I can.

Checked the picture tube with my beloved mint condition B&K 465, and what I saw was incredible. See for yourself.

You guys still have Radio Shack?
That is one nice looking set. It will clean up and restore very nicely! |

BTW, does the set have a Zenith or Oak tuner? |

The decoupling-cap on vertical O/P stage cathode is possibly causing the vertical issue--Nice set BTW

Replace that capacitor that is getting hot now, before you do anything else. Don't run it.
May as well do the rest of the electrolytics while you are at it.

I'm probably going to give this to friend of mine that wants it, I owe him quite a bit because he's done a lot of work on my KCS-47, and he said he'd take this as payment.

This is the Checker Cab of TV sets, durability to the point where a million miles is possible.
Every collection should have at least one of these monochrome Zenith consoles. Mine is four years older and worked as found a few years back, sitting on a snow bank.

It does pain me to let this set go, even though I only had it for a week. It was my first ever Zenith from the 60's. I took one last picture of it before I carried it to the truck.

Hope you let it go to a buyer and not the dump....
