Things you don't see on tv anymore

Shows rarely have opening sequences anymore, and the credits are always squashed at the bottom with ads for upcoming shows or commercials playing in the rest of the screen. There aren't the closings with theme music anymore, usually an announcer is talking over it. Also no more bumper screens with the program name or "we'll be right back" when they go to commericals. (Maybe cartoons still do this and some soap operas might show a screen with their name during the commercials).

For the most part I don't see screens with what will be on tonight anymore, other than maybe PBS might still do that.

Very few ads for the station itself like when CBS or other networks showing titles of shows and their characters promoting the network.

Time is MONEY.. Gotta make room for MORE commercials... I even notice some stations dont start shows at the top or the bottom of the hour, sometimes 5-15 mins after the hour.. And when you have to sit through 11 commercials every break is when its getting out of hand.. Yep, tv is pretty much crap these days..

Regarding cartoon shows, I think it may be an FCC regulation that commercials must be differentiated from the program on children's programming to protect the kiddies.

I noticed last night that the ABC network news had a long initial period with no commercials and then a big block of them. I also recall when Courtesy Ford sponsored the late night movie on WGN in Chicago. They played the movie for 20 minutes uninterrupted, then had 20 minutes of live commercial (remote from the dealership), and then back to the movie.

No announcers anymore in the US at least. I think the BBC still has them between programs...
