80's Zenith with an ODD Issue

Remind me never to get "newer" stuff from the free section of Craigslist. (Doug.. quit laughing.. haha)
Zenith must have taken a huge downward spiral after 1982, and going forward, I will never get another Zenith TV made after that year, as every one I have snagged after that date has been a total POS.
Here's the issue....
Turned set on and picture came on for a second, but looked like a film negative with retrace lines. Picture went away.
You can hit the menu button and the menu comes up, but the instant after you exit the menu screen.. no picture.
Thought? Zeno????

I seem to recall...there is a resistor or such in the beam limiter ckt...that opens or goes up in value or such, upsetting the video bias from the video ckt. BUT the OSD is ok...since it comes right off the MPU..

Model # & main board # please. I also recall something like
that. Also a small cap behind the FBT but may have been
only on 25". Also a transistor on CRT board.
A nudie would help too.

The smaller screen sets built after that date, always seem to work and work well. The ones using the 9-181 main board.
If it wasn't for the bad CRT's of the mid-90's, those sets would be still working, as well.

My family had a nearly identical one as a kid...Got it new in the early 90's. It lasted about a decade before tint started flickering, and a bigger set was desired.

80's Zenith with an ODD Issue

Could it be a bad jungle IC? I have heard the second likely problem with 90+ zeniths can be the Jungle IC. Therefore, the later 80s sets could suffer the same issues. I'm assuming this one has on screen display and picture controls from the menu?
