Liquidation of my collection

After much thought, I've decided to at least start the process of liquidating my television collection. My Motown and soul record collection is demanding more of my time and money, and to be frank, it's easier to move around without much trouble and effort.

Here is a short list of some of the items I'm currently considering parting with (I may ultimately decide to keep a few of these items):
  • 16 inch Grinnell Bros (Olympic) TV-radio-phono combination set
  • 7 inch Meck
  • 12 inch bakelite Hallicrafters (Will place in ETF auction)

My CTC-4 is already sold, as is the Transvision. My Viewtone has been donated to a museum.

As I think of more items I'll update the list accordingly. Please email me for more information or with offers. I'll start gathering pics once I'm back in Michigan.
-Ben

Price on the Colorcaster is $1500 minimum.

My Grandfather paid $1000 to end the auction early, I spent an extra $500 to get it from San Francisco to Detroit. I'd rather keep it than loose money on it. I've had another collector tell me not to accept less than $2K for it. Keep in mind it has a flawless 21AXP22, a good flyback, produces a raster, and passes a signal through the IF. It's 70% there in terms of restoration.

If I can't get my asking price, I'll simply drag it around Europe for the next 20 years; this set I wouldn't be so opposed to traveling with.

Asking $400 or so for the Meck (when's the last time you saw one?) No back, perfect unmolested chassis, a few scratches on the cabinet. The little brass Meck decal that is usually missing is present.

I'm *least* willing to part with the DuMont, but $500-$800 would motivate me more...

I know the market for TVs is currently dead, but I suspect the next four years will see a steady rebound in prices. I'm willing to wait that out if need be.

$150 each for the Grinnell, the Hallicrafters, and the 741PCS. Willing to part out just the NOS 5TP4 for $150.

Entertaining offers on the 621TS. It's rough, but it's a blondie. The two 7DP4s are thoroughly shot. Neither will produce a watchable image. PM me if interested and we can haggle some.

Asking $100 per 10BP4, asking $200 per 12LP4, asking $300 per 10FP4. All of them test great. *Down to last 12LP4, and just 2 10FP4s*

I have a few spare 21AXP22s, all test NOS or damned near NOS. *GONE*

Here is a short list of some of the items I'm currently considering parting with (I may ultimately decide to keep a few of these items):
  • DuMont Club 20 with weak-but-usable 20BP4 CRT
  • 1956 Hoffman Colorcaster with good 21AXP22
  • RCA 630TS with factory 6STD stand and good CRT, unrestored
  • RCA 621TS in blonde with two very weak 7DP4s
  • RCA 741PCS, brand new 5TP4
  • 16 inch Grinnell Bros (Olympic) TV-radio-phono combination set
  • 7 inch Meck
  • 12 inch bakelite Hallicrafters
  • Spare 10BP4s, 12LP4s, and 10FP4s

The loose 21AXP22s are all spoken for pending payment, final testing, and pick up. I figured it would take at most a few hours to get them all new homes. All but two 10FP4s, and all but one 12LP4 are spoken for. The 12LP4s went MUCH faster than I was expecting.

The DuMont has a pending sale. If it should fall through, I've decided to keep the set.

Ben are you moving to Europe forever ? I'm sorry I still haven't gotten that tube in the mail yet , I've been battling a health issue or few and am just now getting back to things . I can easily see where you wouldn't want to be dragging a whole bunch of US tvs around Europe and I'm happy to see your going to keep at least a couple or few favorites , I had to do a similar paring down of my old radio collection some years back and reduced around 150 radios down to 20 . I hope you enjoy Europe , I've visited there a lot back when I was healthy enough for travel and I had a good time in each country I visited .

In a nutshell, this was supposed to be a temporary assignment, but I wound up liking my German colleagues, agreeing to my employer's request to stay longer (on the order of decades), and now I'm actually seriously dating someone here. At this point, I have no real reason to seriously consider returning to the US on a permanent basis. To visit family and vacation? Yes. To live? No.

You'll have to let me know where you live when you get there. I lived in Sicily for 3 years and toured the whole country while I was there, visited Singapore/Hong Kong/Australia/Dubai/Malaysia, and spent 2 weeks in France with Jerome and the RACS crew. But being of German heritage, there's nothing I'd rather do than spend October in Munich or somewhere like that. Octoberfest! :p

I've been going back and forth between the US and Germany for a few months now. Once I'm more settled I'll limit travel back to the US to once a year or so at most.
I'm not exactly established there yet, but I've been in Oldenburg for the bulk of the time. I'm a theorist, so as long as I have a fast internet connection, a black board, some chalk, and GNU-Octave, I can theoretically live anywhere in the Schengen zone. My employer is pretty insistent that I remain in Germany and ideally within a few hours drive of either Berlin or Munich.
The cute little Czech thing I'm dating would like me to settle between Berlin and Prague, CZ. We'll see.
