Flybacks available

I have posted several flybacks by Stancor, Thordarson and mostly Merit on eBay.
These are reasonably priced units from my collection of which I personally don't expect a need. Hopefully someone will find what they need to get their set up and running again!

If you happen to have one that fits these numbers ;

Zenith S-48197 Merit D-197

I will buy it as a spare for my 17" Zenith model 16F25Q

Thank You .

All of the Merit parts I have are HVO numbers. I don't have a cross-reference book. Are you sure D-197 is the correct number for your set. If anyone can tell us what the cross reference numbers for the Zenith part are that would be helpful.

That would be me. Thanks! I'm curious, is the halolight a fluorescent lamp around the crt or something else? Is it driven from the flyback? I've always wondered why anyone would want a light around their picture but they are neat.

The Merit replacement for Zenith S-48197 is HVO-196.
The Stancor replacement is HO-366.
Hope this helps.

fluorescent lamp around the crt Bingo!

Is it driven from the flyback? not that I've seen. They made them for a decade, and every one I've seen has its own fluorescent ballast (some could be controlled independently of the TV power).
The idea was something easy on the eyes that would give the illusion of a bigger picture...Mostly marketing BS.

Hi Guys ,

To Phil , I got the numbers I gave you from the Sam's folder I have on the set so I put my trust in them that their listing is correct . It seems MadRad has the conversion book and it's HVO-196 , I'll take that one if you have it .

To MadRad , Thank You for the help ! Having you convert those numbers is most appreciated

It’s just a neon tube around the screen, there’s a transformer in the back for it.

Fly was good BTW, thanks again!

Thanks to everyone for looking up numbers, etc.
Sorry, init4fun, everything I have is quite a bit earlier than what you need.

Thank You for checking for me Phil , I appreciate it . Thankfully I don't really need one now since the one in the set appears functional but I figured if you did have one I'd have bought it as a "just in case" spare .

Course , if anyone else reading happens to have a new old stock HVO-196 they'd care to sell I'll gladly buy it for the sake of having the spare part .
