Need help to identify this old turntable from a console

Hi there... I'm new to VK but have been a member of AK for several years.

I have a turntable that I need help identifying.

Check out the pics and let me know the make and model... if you can.

Thanks!!

Is mine the very same thing that is pictured?

Or are you saying that I have a VM (voice of music???) record changer?

Thanks!

Don't really know - not a turntable expert, but I'd guess VM - 950 - 18 - 1950 means model 950, built the 18th week of 1950; and the long number ending in 18 would be the serial number.

Looks like Wells Gardner subcontracted V-M to manufacture the turntable.

For many years, well into the early 1970's, Wells-Gardner used Voice Of Music changers in their phonos. their consoles.

I have a 1942 Wells-Gardner Console that has an Oak Model 6666 78 RPM Changer in it which works perfectly but isn't very pretty looking (lots of rust and paint flaking off of it, etc.)

The record changer you have is what my 1950 Capehart model 1002 Used in it originally and would love to find one again to try and restore my Capehart Console back to as close to original as it can get.
