JVC 22 series motor issue
So, I bought a JVC BR-S822DXU with some issues. My friend Barry777 on tv-forums helped me to get it to a pretty much running condition. He also told me about this forum and Ed from TX, who might be an überhacker of the hardware persuasion.
I guess ask barry, he'll tell you I'm nuts 'cause I treat everything like farm equipment....but I can bring most mechanical anything back to life. At this point I've been getting capstan and supply reel errors. I dropped the mechanism, and pulled the capstan and disassembled it, and lubed the bearing that was failing by soaking it in kerosene for ten hours. I want to do the same thing to the lefthand motor, but I'm not sure how to disassemble it. I'd go in all 'Hero Of The Day', but I don't want to break it. Ideas? |

heviarti,
It looks like you can gently pull off (or unscrew) the caps with some kind of tool that engages the small tabs inside the diameter of the cap. The presence of the tabs suggests that the caps unscrew, but I didn't try taking mine off. I put a drop of machine oil from the top, but of course that won't fix a rusty bearing if that's what you have. |
