New to the video section.

Hi guys, I have been on audiokarma for a few years but haven't been around much in the past year. I just discovered this video section and think its terrific! There are just as many people out there as passionate about vintage video equipment as there are stereo guys. I am sure many interests overlap I wanted to mention the possibility of adding a "Laserdisc" forum to the lineup. There are still some enthusiasts out there going strong and keeping the format something of interest. I don't know if there is enough interest to warrant a forum here on videokarma but I think it would build up over time. There doesn't seem to be a specific laserdisc forum on the internet but i have seen some interest in the format in various forums over the years. Again just a suggestion. I need to get back here more often and catch up on some reading!

Some optical stuff has been posted to the magnetic media forum in the past.

Maybe if you post something interesting about laserdisc, you could start something and the mods will see fit to accommodate?

As some one who has a modest collection of both laserdisc and selectavision players and discs I support the idea of a video disc format section here, and even have a project or two to start there.

Welcome to VK!

I know there are some interesting websites about the disc formats, but is there an active discussion group anywhere? Could be the start of something big, and bring in some interesting new people.

Glad you found us!

There are several sites on the net that contain alot of useful info about laserdiscs, however they have to be searched out. It would be nice to have them in some sort of centralized location. Here are a few links for some need to know knowledge if you are considering buying a player. There are probably more sites out there but these are the ones I have used for reference over the past couple of years.

http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/ Here is an archived list of almost every laserdisc player that was produced.

http://www.lddb.com/ Laserdisc database

http://www.laserdiscservice.com/ Great service tech for laserdisc players
