Might be more of a mechanical difference rather than electrical. What's wrong with the old tuner? Can you post pics?

the old tuner, drops out after a while. picture is fine for a hour or so then detunes. i wanted another tuner as a backup before i take the old one apart and try to clean it. if i change channels up and down then back to ch 3 the picture comes thru nicely. several posters said that the tuner is a problem point in this set.
The tuner looks almost identical to the original unit. Chassis is 23lc45z1 if anyone has a memory for this set.
