NOS late '60's Packard-Bell shelf stereo system

I found this late '60's Packard-Bell stereo in a warehouse; but, unfortunately, the box and speakers were ruined from water and rodent damage. Fortunately, the stereo itself was not harmed; so, I took the stereo and left the rest behind. Although not shown, I have the dustcover and the paperwork that came with the unit.

This looks like it will be a decent stereo and uses a Garrard 3000 record changer, fitted with a Tetrad ceramic cartridge.

I have not tested it; but, I'm sure it will need the same type of overhaul as one that's been in constant use would need.

Very nice looking set. Likely very good quality. Does it have a Pickering V 15 installed or a ceramic?

He said in the post that it had a tetrad ceramic cartridge installed, so probably not as high of quality as one might hope out of a unit that looks this nice.

I would love to find a 3000 series changer like that in bronze or black. But can that arm actually be fitted with a MM cartridge? I know the AT-6 can, but I thought that the 3000-series arm only accepted a ceramic cartridge.

The lighter tracking Tetrad ceramic was decent. Philco used their 2 gram tracking competitor to the Zenith/CBS Micro-Touch system in the Philco consoles in that era. Repaired a few such equipped Garrard 3000 changers, they were OK.

What was the model of this audio system? I'd really desire finding one and getting it restored.

Looks like it was made by Sansui, front panel is made similar to the Sansui 1000 of the same era.

I had a Sylvania console with that Garrard changer labeled as "Sylvania custom Deluxe" It also had a Tetrad plug-in ceramic cart

Has a Sansui look but I doubt they built a non-magnetic amp.
Seen a few other P-B stereos from late 60's & 70's. They were built
by Panasonic, if it has red screws a dead give a way. TV's I remember
were garbage GE 18" compactron sets. When they made there own
TV's they were pretty good but a rarity in the North East.

We did a HUGE needle business so I never liked Tetrad with its endless
needles & head shells. PIA ! Finally just bought all the different color coded
cartridges & just sold them. Only cost a little more than just a
diamond needle so popped them out & glued a new un in.........
