Motorola model 10128B radio
I got this radio a few months ago from my friend Mr. Detrola, in Michigan.
I looked in Nostalgia Air, and, they do not have even a similar schematic for it. I have to replace open electrolytics, and, it appears to have a burned resistor feeding B+ to I F tubes. Can somebody find me a sam's for it? It's an am-fm table radio. Blonde finnish in masonite, and, wood cabinet. I also need a good eye tube for it. American no. is 6DA5. The tube lineup follows: 6X4 6AQ5 6AV6 6BE6 2 6BA6 6AU6 6AL5 6DA5 This looks to be a nice hi fi set, with a woofer, and, tweeter. Thanks. Bill Cahill

Don't get your hopes up about the performance of this set. It is just marginal, especially when compared to the Zenith competition of the era. The tuning eye is a nice touch, though.

Geez! Looked in Sam's, Rider's, Beitman's, Mallory encyclopedia-can't find it!
Sure of the model number? Have a chassis #? Maybe under Galvin? |

Sorry. Had model slightly wrong, and, forgot to make correction.
10T28B. It's in Sam's. Bill Cahill

Back then, Motorola made a lot of VHF 2 way radio equipment, for fire and police work. So you'd think that they'd know how to build VHF FM broadcast radios. Probably a different division of the company, though...

Here is a video I made of a radio I think is very similar to the Motorola in question:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCIlXJUCAGs It seems to have good performance to me, plus the fact it is a transformer powered set means it works well and safely with external equipment, and it has auxiliary input, tuner output, and external speaker jacks. We are currently using it as an amplifier/speaker with a DVD player (in addition to as a radio). I had the problem with a burned lead on a resistor too. I got the 6DA5 tuning eye tube from ESRC vacuum tubes. http://www.esrcvacuumtubes.com/ |

Glad to see it's been found, is working, and is being used!
