I would post pictures of the cfd 5 - If I remembered how

The only camera I have is built into my cell phone.

I am waiting for 1 more belt for the cfd 5 cassette deck

The deck looks like a real challenge to replace the belts
very complicated deck

you must mean some sort of meet in kelso washington

my life is the pits and some one slashed
all 4 of my car tires.

I hope to get tires on friday.

I have two of these Hitachi TRK-9900 boomboxes (one as a backup). Always liked Hitachi's boomboxes from the early eighties, and this was one of their largest models. Very heavy, over 20 Pounds if i remember correctly! Needs ten D cell batteries, which doesn't make it very portable... Only use it for FM radio these days, but the sound is very good!

Marantz 500 that looks like a neat boombox.

Most big boomboxes run on 8 d batterys so 10 must be better.

Yup, when it comes to boomboxes, more and bigger is better, right? The early boomboxes were the nicest, I think, before the manufacturers started making the boomboxes lightweight. More practical of course, but the TRK9900 is really well-made and feels more like a real hifi product. I checked the manual, it actually weights close to 29 pounds. Try carrying that around on your shoulder all day!

I just picked up a Sony CFD-5 the other day. I haven't decided what to do with it yet. I'll post a pic later.

It is, It's a 1947 8G005Y with a mint case and nothing is missing. I need to recap it, one went boom and took out a resistor. After the restore, it will be like new. I paid $28.00 on ebay! Most go way higher, must have been the exploded cap scaring off buyers.

A boombox with incredible build quality is the Sony CF-580 from 1976. It's smaller then most of the units from the 1978-85 period at 16 inches wide by 12 tall, but it's built like a tank - with batteries it is 18 lbs. ! Everything about it says quality - all the materials are top shelf, brushed or polished aluminum trim, die- cast chromed or aluminum toggle switches. The design is conservative, no glitz or gimmicks here.

All of the early Sony's seem like they were designed to last forever.

Probably not 20 w rms.

It would need a 80/100 watt ac power supply

or more than 15 alkaline d batterys.

maybe 20 watts per channel pmpo.
i believe thats what the power meters indicated. it was a very highend unit bought by my best friends cocaine cowboy father in the 80's. a set of batteries lasted long enough to get the girls attention poolside. the amp is still around here somewhere....
