Emerson 639

Hello, Working winter project a Emerson 639 I have no high voltage, found a 6000v cap underneath the IB3GT tube its is a .0005 6k. I can not find one would anyone have a idea what I could use ?

Allied, Digikey, and IIRC Just Radios should also have comparable parts, possibly at better prices. I'll let you shop around.

Remember .00XYuF = XY00pF (since u=10^-6 and p=10^-12), and that .005 (or any 5 multiple) is not made anymore so the closest value .0047 is best (and in tolerance of the original part).

Thanks Tom I wish I had been taught this when I was younger, I had thought that might work but better to ask appreciate it.

I thought .0005mfd is the same as 500 pf. So Sylvania would need to purchase a 470 pf 6000 volt capacitor not a .0047mfd which is the same as a 4700pf cap.

Your right!...I missed a zero reading his post.

At that value another question is whether the original is a tubular or a doorknob type...May want another doorknob off ebay if it's a doorknob type.

Thanks it is a tubular I will have to order one from Just Radios the only place I have found that has it.
