California To Shut Down Repeater Networks

https://www.infowars.com/california-...res-blackouts/

How can they do this? Don't they know these are regulated by Federal law?

Yet another reason I'm glad I don't live in California...One big Cluster F!@# of crazy people doing crazy things that negatively impact each other.

Just checked ARRL's web site and not a word about this. Of course the operators should be able to move the repeaters to private land if there's any out there.

The news source is InfoWars. I would take this with an enormous grain of salt until someone more official reports on it.

There is a small grain of truth to the story, but that's about it. From what I can research, California isn't shutting down everybody's repeaters....but there are some located on state maintained land who are going to have to sign an agreement to be there and possibly pay rent. This is no different than other places. There's no such thing as free rack space at most tower locations.

That's what I figured too. They can't shut down one on private property. Many repeaters are located on TV towers with the blessing of the CE.
There's one located on Stone Mountain here in GA. Stone Mountain is a state park. Its been there since the beginning of repeaters. Not sure what kind of agreement they have. But there's also a TV there but its the state's PBS. There's a bunch of stuff up there including a WX service transmitter. At one time, there was a moratorium on putting new stuff up there.

I have a friend who lived in SoCal and recently relocated to GA and Gasoline is a tad over 100% cheaper then it was in SoCal.

Cost of living in GA is way cheaper then in CA.

Wow! Free gasoline (or paying you to burn it) in Georgia! And I thought Texas was cheap! ☺
