Is my future dim?

I noticed that Zenith, in it's wisdom, resorted to side lighting from the top-down from the sides the 7S353. I substituted 4 led #47 LED superbright lights but the dial is still somewhat dim. Zenith used backlights and transparent areas on other radios. What can I do to better see the dial?

I remember seeing on a few old radios these little rounded metal caps that covered the outside edges of the lamps and they had an opening on the inside edge that concentrated the light on the dial.

I've seen them made of thin brass and thin aluminum. They may have been called lamp shrouds. You could try cutting and forming them yourself out of old Christmas light reflectors or similar pliable sheet metal. I don't think you could find them commercially available. You may have better luck with using these shrouds and an incandescent lamp.
