Zenith 9-S-262 with Original shipping box
Went to an auction today and bought a couple of brand new Realistic TRC-216 40 channel CB hand held units for $15.00 and a Realistic digital base unit for 5. Both good buys. Well I found my wife and she asked me if I saw the Zenith in the other room, no I hadn't. When I go in there there sits a Zenith 9-S-262 with motorized tuning and the original cardboard shipping container. Now the container has some water damage to the top. but all in all not bad considering it's cardboard from 1937 or 8. That's the good. The bad is I got into a bidding war with a guy who makes his living buying at auctions. It wasn't pretty. I payed about $130 more than I wanted but I should be able realize a profit after I restore it and the box adds a good little bit to the value. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Wow What a nice find!
Can't wait to see pictures and yes lets see the box also. I have had mine since 1976. It was my Grandparents and given to me personally by my Grandmother. A friend and I restored the electronics and replaced the speaker cloth in 1980.Then in 1985 a radio restorer I know did a full alignment. To date it works flawlessly and sports it original finish. This is my #1 possession and I could never part from it. James (JHS2RT) |
